Courtney (Coco) Pannell - Class of 2018
About Courtney
Coco Pannell currently manages YouTube's relationships with conservative political publishers and creators, working to grow their channels and the politically-engaged user base on the platform. She's worn many hats in her nearly 12 years at Google. Before her current role, she managed Google's engagements with the U.S. Executive Branch, working on initiatives around small business, workforce development, education, opioid crisis, while also shaping Google’s policy agenda around copyright, connectivity, and digital trade. During the 2016 election, Coco was Google’s Elections Program Manager, sculpting Google’s advertising business in the DC market.
She graduated from Yale University in 2011 as a Yale Journalism Scholar with a B.A. in political science and an interdisciplinary concentration in media studies. She’s originally from the small-but-mighty town of Milan, Tennessee, and now lives in Nashville with her dog Whiskey.
Future Plans
I'm passionate about helping political YouTube creators cultivate audiences. Video is a powerful way to connect with potential voters -- you can make folks laugh in a 30-sec Short about a political gaffe or think critically in a 10-min explainer on an important policy topic. There are so many right-of-center YouTube channels producing excellent, engaging content, and it's thrilling to see them build such influential platforms. Many of these creators are now operating out of Nashville, which is doubly exciting for me! I'm excited to help build a conservative Hollywood in my wonderful home state.
