Will Selph

Montana

William "Will" Selph is a 5th generation Montanan whose relatives arrived before statehood.  They settled in the Big Sky country of Eastern Montana to farm and ranch like so many fellow newcomers and, in time, built a small business.

Will's family offers him a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges of living in a remote, rugged state.  His passion for politics was ignited in 2004 when he joined fellow high school students in donning "Won't Be My President" t-shirts with the likeness of John Kerry.  He has worked on almost every significant state-wide Montana race since 2006 and started his own consulting and fundraising firm, "Selphfund," in 2014.  In 2020, he played a pivotal role in the campaign of current Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, helping Knudsen get elected by a wide margin.  Selph joined the transition team and later became Knudsen's Chief of Staff.  Selph oversees the daily operations of the Attorney General's office, managing staff and the budget while also advising Knudsen on building a conservative policy agenda. Selph and his team have worked tirelessly to increase law enforcement resources.  They have secured additional agents in their Criminal Investigations Division to combat fentanyl, human trafficking, and other major crimes.  Selph co-leads Knudsen's team rebuilding the state's Motor Vehicle Division, successfully steering legislation and an IT overhaul through two phases with a final rollout in March 2025.  The team has introduced customer-focused concepts and a business-like approach to the division.  In 2021, Selph helped lead Montana's first Human Trafficking Symposium to create a unified and balanced approach between government and non-profits to combating Human Trafficking.

Selph was elected the first chairman of the Montana Opioid Abatement Trust in 2023 to help local regions address the ongoing opioid epidemic as part of a nationwide settlement process.  Selph previously served as a counselor with American Legion Boys State for over a decade and served on his hometown Head Start board. He enjoys spending time with his family, visiting friends, traveling, and attempting golf in his free time.
