About Katie

Katie Martin is a Partner at Big Dog Strategies overseeing general consulting and media strategy for her clients. Before joining BDS, Martin served as a top aide to Secretary Pompeo at the State Department, holding the titles of Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Media Strategy and Press Secretary. 

Before joining State, Martin served as the Communications Director for the NRSC during the 2018 election cycle, where Senate Republicans made history by adding to its Majority in President Trump’s first midterm election. In the same cycle, Martin was named a Power Player on Politico Playbook’s Power List of The New Guard as a Republican operative in “hand to hand combat” with the ability to cut through the noise. Martin was also the Communications Director for the NRCC, where she helped House Republicans protect their historic Majority in 2016. Martin is an AAPC 40-Under-40 winner in 2022 and is also in the 2023 class of Maverick PAC’s Future 40 list.

Future Plans
Going into 2024, my plan is to continue to work hard for my clients to ensure we expand the House majority and flip the Senate. And after a successful election night, a vacation is the next priority. 

What do you enjoy about MavPAC the most?

Mav PAC events are always hosted at great venues and are a chance to see old friends and make new friends. They also bring in great speakers like Secretary Pompeo! 

Fun Fact

Before getting into politics, I held many odd jobs that have prepared me for a life in politics. Whether it was living the mantra of "hot food go" at the Olive Garden or reminding young students at daycare that we should be nice to our friends, it was all a fun on ramp to my current life in Washington.
