Representative Daniel Perez is a Republican legislator proudly serving Florida House District 116.

Originally from New York City, NY, Perez and his family moved to Florida in 1993. They settled in the densely vibrant and cultural suburb of Westchester in Miami Dade County, which Perez represents today. As a first generation Cuban-American, Perez learned hard work, optimism and the importance of public service and leadership at a young age. His passion for service was developed and nurtured as early as 2005 when elected Christopher Columbus High School Class President. He continued his studies at Florida State University and the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, and currently works as the in-house legal counsel for Doctors Health Care Plans, Inc.

Dedicated to serving his fellow Floridians, Perez was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2017 to fill a vacated seat after a hard-fought grassroots campaign focused on accountability, lower taxes, less government and safeguarding our communities. During his time in office, he has been instrumental in championing key legislation pertaining to child welfare, healthcare, family stability, education and election integrity. Perez is the former Florida House of Representatives Chair of the Judiciary Committee, Pandemic & Public Emergencies Committee, and Public Integrity & Elections Committee. He presently sits on multiple committees in the Florida House including: Chair of the House Rules Committee and a member of the Appropriations Committee.

As a result of his steadfast commitment and unwavering leadership as a Representative, Perez was appointed Speaker of the Florida House and will gavel in from 2024-2026. As Speaker, he seeks to tackle critical issues pertaining to healthcare, infrastructure, affordable housing and property insurance, while staying true to being the voice of his constituents in Tallahassee. Perez is a devoted family man. He is married to Stephanie Ann Perez, and together they are the proud parents of Camila Lucia, Matías Daniel, and Paulina Andrea.
