Ben Proler

Chairman from 2022 - 2023

Ben Proler is a proud native of Houston, Texas, and a dedicated member of both the local and national Jewish communities. Since joining Shell Oil Company in 2013, Ben has made significant strides in his career and currently serves as the Enterprise Sustainability Manager for Shell Aviation. In this role, he leads the commercial strategy and contract negotiations for sustainable aviation fuel with major airlines and corporations across the Americas. 

Ben's expertise extends beyond sustainable jet fuel. He collaborates with aviation  enterprises on various decarbonization initiatives, including hydrogen, direct air  capture (DAC), carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and renewable  power. 

Ben's commitment to public service and volunteerism is evident in his extensive  community involvement. He has served as the national chairman for Maverick PAC  and is an active board member of Congregation Emanu El, the American Jewish  Committee, and the Houston Clean City Commission. Additionally, he is a term  member of the Houston Committee on Foreign Relations. In 2017, Ben was  commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. From 2020 to 2022, he  commanded U.S. Reserve Cargo Handling Unit 13 (NCHB13), leading a team of 50  Sailors in expeditionary cargo operations. 

His service continued with a deployment to Manama, Bahrain, in September 2022,  where he managed logistics for over 600 Sailors and Soldiers in Commander Task  Force 56. In May 2023, Ben played a crucial role in the United States' humanitarian  rescue mission in Sudan, coordinating the safe return of 503 American citizens. Ben  returned to Houston in August 2023 and resumed his impactful work with Shell Oil Company. 

He holds a B.A. in Marketing from the McCombs School of Business at The University  of Texas at Austin, a diploma from the United States Naval War College, and is  currently pursuing his M.B.A. from the Jones School of Business at Rice University,  with an expected graduation in May 2026. 

He lives in Houston, Texas with the love of his life, Shayna Proler. They are expecting  their first child in January 2025. Together, they love the outdoors, learning about  new topics, and advocating for the Jewish people.
